THIS PACKAGE INCLUDES:
Complete this application if you're planning on owning and operating an interstate for-hire motor carrier company with a GVW LESS THAN 10,000 pounds OR you just want to apply for the BASIC package with no add ons. It takes a MINIMUM of 22 days before you'll be able to operate as an interstate motor carrier. Insurance must be in place to activate the authority. We recommend you file the insurance 2 weeks after the application has been filed to remain on the 3-week timeline. There is no way to speed up this process with the FMCSA even if all requirements are met early. Read here to learn more about what to expect during this process. Insurance requirements: $300K BIPD if hauling general freight less than 10,000 pounds. Typically a sprinter van type of operation. $750K BIPD if hauling general freight and your GVW is MORE THAN 10,000 pounds. Typically a box truck/semi type of operation. $1MM BIPD if hauling automobiles or low level hazmat and your GVW is MORE THAN 10,000 pounds. |
