Frequently Asked Questions

Does my BOC-3 expire?
You BOC-3 expires if your authority goes INACTIVE, filing for a NAME CHANGE or TRANSFERRING an authority.  You will need to purchase another BOC-3 in these cases.

Otherwise, if your MC remains active with no changes as listed above your BOC remains active as well.  We do not charge annual fees unless you are served legal documents multiple times.  See Terms & Conditions.

When can I operate after I apply for my own authority?
Here's the timeline...it's a MINIMUM of three weeks before you will be able to operate as an interstate carrier/broker.  There are requirements to be filed with the FMCSA depending on what you applied for.  There is no way to speed up this process even if you file all your requirements early.  Read more...

What do I do when my MC number is OUT OF SERVICE?
If you have big red letters OUT OF SERVICE on your MC account here what you need to do.
  • First go here... http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_oos_process.prc_oos_search and see what this issue is.
  • Then contact your state's USDOT field office and speak with an office to find out what steps are needed to remove this status.
Realize that this process usually takes a minimum of 3 weeks to process.

Is there an annual fee for BOCs?
For most accounts there is no annual fee.  A $75 annual fee is accessed if the MC account holder has been served with legal documents and/or USDOT citations.
