What is SETC?The SETC Program provides a tax credit for self-employed individuals impacted by qualified COVID-19 disruptions as outlined in the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). As part of these programs, the U.S. government has set aside millions in tax credits for self-employed individuals like you, who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, many accountants did not (and still do not) know this program exists. So, when we discovered this hidden treasure in 2023, we decided to change it. Since then, we've partnered with Anchor Accounting Services to create a seamless experience to return over $500 million to qualified self-employed professionals, including independent truckers, freight brokers, small fleet owners, and more. We are one of the only self-employed communities in the country that is returning this money to its rightful owners. This isn't just any money; it's YOUR money, already earmarked by the government, waiting for you to claim. If unclaimed, this money — your tax dollars — simply goes back into the government's coffers. We believe it belongs in the hands of the hardworking people who fuel our economy. Don't delay there is a time limit. The IRS will shut down this program on April 18th, 2025. Apply now to see if you qualify!

Here we are at the end of another year! Can you believe 2023 is just around the corner?
In this video we're going to discuss what you need to be prepared for 2023 in regards to your permit book. There's also a new permit on the horizon that you may need. I'll briefly discuss the new permit - CT mileage tax permit. Let us know if you need any assistance! Our number is 303-482-2965. Growing a trucking business has its fair share of challenges. Business owners that make the right decisions at the right time have the greatest chance of success. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been driving in the trucking industry; if you don’t know how to operate a company, you will not succeed. So, what can you do to grow your trucking business? Get your finances in orderIf you are in the trucking industry, you have probably heard of “freight factoring”. Freight factoring is such a useful tool for small and medium sized businesses. The benefits of working with a factoring company (if you choose the right one) can help your business boom. What is Freight Factoring? We had a blast at the Texas Trucking Show in Houston, Texas, this weekend! It was a much smaller venue than the Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville, Kentucky, but a lot more intimate. I had wonderful conversations with vendors and customers. Even met a few customers that actually came out to the truck show from an email invitation I sent! How fun! Here are two videos of some highlights of the show. Day 1 - HighlightsDay 2 - HighlightsThinking of filing a name change? There are a few things you need to know before taking any action. 1. If you're a corporation and want to change your name be sure you AMEND your current articles of incorporation with your Secretary of State office. If you start a whole new account with the SOS you may be required to obtain a new DOT #. This will increase your insurance premiums. 2. If you're a sole proprietor and want to incorporate you WILL get to keep your current DOT #. 3. If you are a corporation and wish to downgrade to a sole proprietor you will NOT get to keep your DOT #. If your scenario is not listed above call us so we can check with the FMCSA first. Watch the video below and we'll discuss the details once you file for your name change. It's always best to hire this out, as simple as it may seem, to ensure all the pieces fit together perfectly. There is a chance of the FMCSA inactivating your account if something is missed. Don't let that happen to you! Here are the links mentioned in the video: Name Change Application: https://www.evilsizor.co/name-change.html Check your status here: http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_carrquery.prc_carrlist Contact our office if you have any questions. Did you get revoked this month by the FMCSA? There have been a number of carriers and brokers revoked because there was no BOC-3 on file. There are 2 reasons why this happened. 1. The FMCSA did a sweep of account who were active but didn't have a BOC-3 on file. Here is a sample letter that was mailed out to each carrier affected by this issue. 2. Your BOC-3 provider may have gone out of business. Rest assured we are NOT out of business and still going strong after 31 years. According to Jeff Secrist, the Chief of the FMCSA, there are many factors involved in this process. They are working to improve the FMCSA system. The BOC-3 system is one that needs to be overhauled. There is no history recorded anywhere as when a BOC was filed, removed and filed again. It's either there or it's not. The only time we ask the FMCSA to remove a BOC is if the terms of service was not upheld or the credit card was disputed after the BOC was filed. Otherwise the BOC stays on the account as long as the authority is active. Watch this 9 minute video and I'll explain more. I would recommend you subscribe to our DOT-Shield monthly monitoring program. This would give you another set of eyes on your account to catch issues like this. We monitor the MC account, DOT account and UCR every month. Then we provide you with a summary via email. Watch the video first and then decide which service you would like to choose if this is your case. 1. File the BOC-3 2. Need assistance with the entire reinstatement process (which includes the BOC-3) Let my office know how we can help! |
